Having problems with your Acer X193W LCD Monitor ?

015 Hello, I'm trying to get my Acer P193W monitor to work with my windows XP computer. At the moment, the problem is that if I try to set my resolution to 1440x900 resolution (which is the native resolution of the monitor), a good inch of desktop on the left hand side 'falls' off the screen, and all images are slightly stretched in the horizontal direction. The other resolution options have problems too, for example: 1280x1024 - no 'falling off' edge but even more stretched image1280x800 - almost a third of the left hand side of the screen falls off the edge, all images are slightly stretched.1024x768 - no falling off but images are stretchedI have also noticed for all resolutions I've tried that horizontal bars of image disturbance appear on the screen - especially when playing video content. I have updated the drivers for my graphics card (VIA/S3G UniChrome PRO IGP), which has not helped with the above problem. I have also searched high and low for Acer drivers, but they seem to only be available for Windows Vista. I have been tearing my hair out over this for a long time.. if anyone could offer some advice I would be most grateful! 015

Answers :

What service pack of windows xp are you running? Also, do you have your old monitor, if so, then plug it in and see if the same problem occurs. If not , go under the settings for your graphics card (not windows display options) and see if there can be a correction made to the settings for your monitor. Also, try going to microsoft.com and updating your computer (it's free) and you'll probably get the required driver to fix the problem from them. Check under your control panel and see if you have automatic updates turned on, if so you may want to limit what updates are to be installed by allowing updates but you choose which one's to install.
